The Leeds Scenester has been finding out about the record label Medellin Music (pronounced Med-e-an) which has recently re-located to our fabulous city of Leeds. We caught up with Andrew Thompson - Medellin's professional producer and sound designer:

"The label has been around for five years and was formerly based in Stourbridge going by the name of Red Monster Records. In early August the label was bought by Leeds based firm Madison Cole Associates. At the start of September the day to day running of the label was taken on by myself"

Andrew has work in Film, Television, Radio and Theatre for a number of years. He has built up a credible reputation as a remix producer working with BAFTA award winning producers and having numerous worldwide song credits to his name and tracks placed with advertising.

He is also a successful theatre and radio sound designer having designed shows at The West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Lowry and The Everyman to name a few.

With Andrew and his unique set of contacts onboard we are driving the label forward and offering emerging artists the chance to get exposure in a number of new and exciting areas that other labels simply cannot offer.

Being under the ownership of Madison Cole Associates allows Medellin to keep all of their graphic design and legal costs in house allowing them to put more money and passion into their artists.

"We are now inviting all of Leeds talent to fill our inbox with their music and let us see what is out there," Andrew tells us. "We are also interested to receive gig dates, band bios and any links they think we would be interested in as we are looking to improve the quality and number of artists on the label"
