With a successful career spanning over several years, Maximo Park showed they were still on top form at last weekends Bingley Music Live. Taking to the stage in a white shirt and a bowler hat, front man Paul Smith came ready to daze and amaze.
He danced frenetically through their hits - Our Velocity, Postcard of a Painting, Limassol and Apply Some Pressure were all performed to surpass expectations – and urged the crowd to do the same through the bands new material. He entertained with anecdotes between songs, explaining his first introduction to the town as “my mam had a Bradford and Bingley bank account once, so I was aware of this place before tonight.”
The band progressed through their set with an air of achievement, celebrated through the performance of their career-spanning songs. With a new album in the works, Maximo Park are geared up to become bigger and better. After imprinting their mark into the minds of the masses, they ended with a crash and a flash of bright lights and fireworks, drawing the first day of the festival to a triumphant close.
