Leo Brazil & His Twitch

Leo brazil

Leo Brazil and his Twitch brings us their first release from Huddersfield label Dead By Dawn Records, and it makes a very strong impression indeed.

Ewe is the opening track, and it sets the pace for most of the album. An upbeat song with catchy comedic lyrics seems to be the formula that this band succeeds at the most. Brickwall is a lyrical highlight, with words such as “Watching out for barbed wire and such” providing a comical contrast to the rock beat underneath. Dead Frogs In The Garden is one of the best songs on the album, tackling the moral panic of Global Warming in the way only this band can. Laughable situations are separated by instrumental breaks, showcasing the group at their best. If You’re Inuit provides another play on words for a lyrically delightful song. With a swinging beat and full chorus, it serves as another example of the band at its finest. Hard Row To Hoe makes use of primarily acoustic instruments; guitars, violins, mandolins and accordions all make appearances along the comedy-tinted lyrics. Another rendition of Yew closes the album. Taking the same name and melody as the opener, this song is different yet somehow the same, leaving the Yew Tree behind to detail the love for a sheep.
